Common Minors and Certificates for ISE Undergraduate Students

Industrial and Systems Engineering Students can apply for a Minor or an Undergraduate Certificate to complement their studies in ISE. Steps for applying for minors and Certificates, as well as commonly chosen minors and certificates for ISE students, can be found below.

Minors

Applying for a Minor

ISE students can apply for a minor by completing this form.

Common Minors for ISEs

ISE students can choose any minor from the University-wide list, but many students choose the following minors, which are closely aligned with the ISE curriculum:

  • Minor in Sales Engineering – this minor requires 3 additional courses outside the ISE curriculum. MAR 3023 can only count for 3 credits of general elective credits.
  • Minor in Business Administration – this minor requires 3 additional courses outside the ISE curriculum, and one of these courses (FIN3403) can be applied as an ISE Technical Elective
  • Minor in Mathematics – this minor requires 4 additional courses outside the ISE curriculum, and some of these courses can be applied as ISE Technical Electives
  • Minor in Computer and Information Science and Engineering – this minor requires 5 additional courses outside the ISE curriculum, and two of these courses (COP3530, COP4600) can be applied as ISE Technical Electives
  • Minor in Actuarial Science – this minor requires 4 additional courses outside the ISE curriculum, and one of these courses (FIN3404) can be applied as an ISE Technical Elective
  • Minor in Packaging Science – this minor requires 4 additional courses outside the ISE curriculum, and two of these courses (PKG3103, PKG4101C) can be applied as ISE Technical Electives
  • Minor in Statistics – this minor requires 18 credits of courses that align closely with the ISE curriculum, and some of these courses can be applied as ISE Technical Electives

The approved ISE Technical Elective List will allow students to find minor courses that count as ISE technical electives.

Certificates

Applying for a Certificate

ISE students can apply for an Undergraduate Certificate by following these steps:

  1. Students apply to their desired certificate program through the UF Office of Admissions.
  2. The Department offering the certificate will evaluate the student’s application and offer admission to the certificate program.
