GAINESVILLE, FL (September, 2010): Linda Hudson (BS SE 1972), ISE Hall of Famer and CEO of BAE Systems, participated in the “Engineering Education and Research as Preparation for Leadership in Business, Law, Government, Health Care and Public Policy” panel discussion, with Tom Hunter of Sandia Labs, Stephen Precourt of the Florida Legislature, Bill Troner of Andre-Toner L.C., and Dr. John White, Chancellor Emeritus of the University of Arkansas and for Dean of Engineering at Georgia Tech. “Much of the technical training received today will be out of date in a short amount of time,” she said. “What stays relevant are the soft skills,” noting that learning to compromise and dealing with failure are two important skills not often learned in engineering.
