Abstract: Better Healthcare through Health System Engineering
In this talk, Dr. Li will introduce how better clinical outcomes at a lower operational cost can be achieved in a timely manner with health system engineering. She will present a few projects where she utilized discrete event simulation and analytics tools to tackle real-world challenges, including emergency department overcrowding, customer-centric transformation, and ambulatory care innovation. She will also present the design of analytics and visualization tools to leverage data for operational excellence, especially for daily performance improvement. Last, she will discuss the role of industrial engineers in Healthcare transformation and operational management.
