GAINESVILLE, FL: Professors Joseph Hartman and Serdar Kirli volunteered their faces to receive whipped cream pies on Friday, December 7, 2012 to raise money for Shands Hospital for Children. The event, organized by the student chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, accepted pledges for donations in order to pie the faculty members. The highest bidders were given the pieing honor.
The event raised money for IIE’s Dance Marathon team, a University-wide fundraiser that raises nearly $1 million annually. In addition to Professors Hartman and Kirli, IIE student president Pedro Macellaro took a fast-flying pie to the face.
Pie-A-Professor raised over $200 towards IIE’s goal of $750.
