TALLAHASSEE, FL:  The Associated Press reported that the Blue Ribbon Task Force appointed by Governor Rick Scott to explore possible changes in the state’s University System has made the recommendation that tuition should be based on the type of degree a student is seeking.  This could impact those students pursuing degrees in high-demand, high-return fields, such as engineering.  There was also a proposal to allow “preeminent universities” to raise tuition more than other institutions.  The final proposal is due November 15, and may also include language that would allow the Board of Governors to have direct involvement in the search for university presidents.
