Wal-Mart CEO Advised Early to Study Industrial Engineering.

BENTONVILLE, ARKANSAS (September, 2010): Fortune Magazine profiled Wal-Mart CEO Mike Duke in their September 2010 issue. Duke was promoted to the head of the company in early 2009. In the article written by Brian O’Keefe, Duke recollected that his high school physics teacher encouraged him to study Industrial Engineering and go into the service industry. Duke graduated in IE from Georgia Tech and passed on a career at P&G to work for Richway, a discount chain for the regional department store Rich’s. Duke joined Wal-Mart, now a $400 billion dollar company by sales, in 1995.
