ARLINGTON, VA (APRIL 2010): Dr. Yongpei Guan was named an award recipient from the Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Program. The program “invests in academic scientists and engineers who show exceptional promise for creative study.” Dr. Guan’s proposal, entitled “Multi-stage Formulations and Solution Methods for Mixed Integer Programming under Uncertainty,” was one of only 17 proposals selected from 211 submissions. With the funding he has established a laboratory in ISE to study large-scale stochastic programming problems with applications including network design, energy distribution and production planning.
