Title : Civil Infrastructure Systems (CIS) and Related Programs/Solicitations: Funding Opportunities and Proposal Writing
Abstract : The Civil Infrastructure Systems (CIS) program in the Division of Civil, Mechanical and Manufacturing Innovation (CMMI) supports fundamental and innovative research in the design, operation and management of civil infrastructure that contributes to creating smart, sustainable and resilient communities at local, national and international scales. We focus on civil infrastructure as a system in which interactions between spatially- and functionallydistributed components and intersystem connections exist. In this talk, I will discuss the scope and funding opportunities in the CIS program, as well as other related programs and solicitations at NSF, including Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), and Smart & Connected Communities (S&CC)/CIVIC challenge. I will also provide general suggestions for writing NSF proposals, targeting on core programs or different solicitations, as well as EAGER, RAPID, and CAREER opportunities.
