Student Sheldon Barrett's entrepreneurial skills were praised at last Monday's 2nd Annual U.Pitch College Elevator Pitch Competition & Showcase event in Chicago, awarding him $3,000 in prizes – congratulations!
Sheldon showcased his product Coconut Twist to hundreds of attendees, including 6 judges and Shark Tank investor Daymond John. "It was the first time I did a live demo of the Coconut Twist which blew the judges and crowd away" said Sheldon. "I poured the judges fresh coconut water, and handed them an optional small bottle of rum."
Sheldon was the only student selected in the state of Florida, winning 2nd place in the overall competition and a lot of exposure to his innovative, simplistic and effective product: the Coconut Twister.
"Daymond John said [to me] 'you're pitch and presentation was excellent!' He also gave me a signed copy of his book! I was very confident, and never nervous" he said.
U.Pitch is an initiative of the Future Founders Startup program, a dynamic platform to engage, equip and empower collegiate entrepreneurs. The program is funded by Capital One, The Coleman Foundation, The John E. & Jeanne T. Hughes Foundation, Motorola Solutions Foundation, and Accenture.
