Dr. Guanghui (George) Lan joined the Department in 2009, after earned his Ph.D. from Georgia Tech. His teaching and research interests focus on theory, algorithms and applications of stochastic optimization and nonlinear programming. His research efforts lead to numerous awards including INFORMS Computing Society Best Student Paper Award (First Place) 2008, INFORMS George Nicholson Best Student Paper Award (Second Place) 2008, INFORMS Junior Faculty Interest Group (JFIG) Best Paper Award (First Place) 2012, Mathematical Optimization Society Tucker Prize (Finalist) 2012, and NSF CAREER Award 2013.
