Gainesville, FL: The University of Florida Institute of Industrial Engineers chapter was featured in the January 2015 issue of IIE Magazine for their recent case competition that featured rewards of internship interviews at companies such as Accenture and Voalte.
From the article, “Twelve students listened to the workshops, which discussed how to create a presentation, how to present effectively and how to analyze data with Excel. Three professional members (two from Voalte, one from Accenture) and then-student chapter President Ashley Papagno walked around to help the teams fulfill their assignments.
“Students were tasked with being consultants to a mining and refinery company. The company expected that demand soon would outstrip its capacity. The students analyzed options, which included expanding one of two refineries and reallocating the distribution of customers. Many factors needed to be considered, including trucking costs, expansion costs, demand growth rates per customer and refinery capacities.”
