GAINESVILLE, FL:  The ISE Hall of Fame gained three new members on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the annual spring banquet.  The new ISE Alumni Leadership Award winners were Bruce Laval (BS IE 1969), the late Wilma Smith (BIE 1959),  and David Thomas (BS IE 1971, MS IE 1972).  Bruce Laval (featured picture) earned recognition through his executive work with Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts.  His many accomplishments include developing the Fastpass system.  Wilma Smith was the first woman to graduate with a BIE degree and went on to carry out a teaching career at the University of South Florida and St. Petersburg College.  Her daughter, Virginia Courtney (pictured here), received the award in her place.  David Thomas enjoyed a lengthy executive career with IBM before becoming Chairman and CEO at IMS Health.  He could not attend the ceremony due to international travel, but provided an acceptance speech via video.  The Department now boasts a Hall of Fame of 16 inductees.
