Martin-Vega (PhD ’75) Wins IIE Gilbreth Award

ORLANDO, FL: Louis Martin-Vega (ME ISE 1973, PhD ISE 1975) won the Frank and Lillian Gilbreth Industrial Engineering Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Institute of Industrial Engineers.  The current Dean of Engineering at North Carolina State University was presented the award at the IIE Annual Conference’s Honors and Awards Banquet held on May 21, 2012 in Orlando, Florida.  The award “recognizes those who have distinguished themselves through contributes to the welfare of mankind in the field of industrial engineering. The contributions are of the highest caliber and nationally or internationally recognized,” according to IIE.  Martin-Vega has served on the faculty of Florida, Florida Tech, Lehigh University, University of South Florida and N.C. State, and also has spent time with the National Science Foundation.  He is a member of the inaugural class of ISE Hall of Fame inductees.
