Workshop Outline

The emphasis of the workshop will be on application of risk management methodologies across engineering domains. Several talks will focus on the application and development of the risk quadrangle concept, as well as new risk measures associated with this concept. For instance, we will consider advanced statistics applications such as linear regression estimation of Conditional Value-at-Risk, Probability of Exceedance, and Buffered Probability of Exceedance.

Hotels

For all guests, we emphasize that hotels should be booked as soon as possible because of the UF football game being played in Gainesville on the same weekend. We also would like to suggests the following two hotels for you to stay. The Holiday Inn Gainesville – University Center, W University Ave Gainesville FL and the Best Western Gateway Grand, NW 97th Blvd Gainesville FL. The Holiday Inn is within walking distance to the workshop venue (Weil Hall at UF). For those staying at the Best Western, we will be organizing transportation to and from the workshop. Also, these hotels may offer discounts for university or government employees if requested, although the football game may interfere with these discounts on the Friday and Saturday night.

Registration Fee & Meal Accommodations

Thanks to sponsorship from the College of Engineering and the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at UF, we will not be charging any registration or participation fee. In addition, we will be providing boxed lunches during the workshop as well as a dinner reception on Friday, Nov 18th at 6:30pm for all participants.
