The Harold D. Haldeman, Jr. Graduate Fellowship

Mr. Harold D. Haldeman, Jr. was born in Tampa, Florida in 1924. After completing one year of study at the University of Florida, Gainesville, he volunteered for the Navy in 1944 and served as an Aviation Electrician for two years until the end of the war. Later, he returned to the University of Florida and graduated with a degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering.

Upon graduation, Haldeman made his mark in wholesale lumber and logistics. Within two years of graduation, he became general manager of Forest Products Corporation of Ft. Lauderdale and shortly thereafter, was named the President and the CEO. He also served as the Florida Manager for American Forest Products from California. In 2011, he was initiated into UF ISE Hall of Fame in recognition of his distinguished record of leadership in his life’s work. The same year, he established the The Harold D. Haldeman, Jr. Fellowship in 2011 to support graduate fellowships in ISE.

  • The applicant must be a student pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering
  • The applicant’s GPA must be at least 3.5
