Smith (BS ’09) Relishing Role as Process Improver

Jo Smith delivers a lecture

GAINESVILLE, FL:  Jo Smith (BS ISE 2009) accumulated a wealth of experience during her undergraduate studies at UF in the service industry through three internships with Disney.  But she took a different career path — taking a manufacturing role through the global rotational program at Cameron.  After rotating through four positions in Houston, Texas and Little Rock, Arkansas, she has completed her black belt training and now supports a number of manufacturing facilities in Houston.  “I enjoy seeing the results of my work,” she told students in the “Introduction to ISE” lecture on Monday, February 4.  In addition to her career path, she told the students to get involved in IIE while they are students but to also stay involved in the Department after graduation.  Smith has volunteered to help with the Young Alumni Advisory Board, or YAAB.
