Lawphongpanich Teams with Yin to Study Traffic Congestion Relief

A Florida toll road

TALLAHASSEE, FL: Dr. Yafeng Yin, Associate Professor of Civil and Coastal Engineering, and Dr. Siriphong (Toi) Lawphongpanich, Associate Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering have teamed to study the use of managed roads, or lanes, in the state of Florida.  Managed lanes refer to high-occupancy-vehicle (HOV) lanes, high-occupancy toll (HOT) lanes, express lanes, bus or truck-only lanes, or reversible lanes.  The project, “Deployment Strategies of Managed Lanes on Arterials,” funded by the Florida Department of Transportation for roughly $250,000 over two years, will specifically review and evaluate different managed lane strategies and “investigate ways in to coordinate the deployment and operations of managed lanes on both limited-access facilities and arterials.”
