The UF IAC employs both graduate and
undergraduate student assistants from various engineering departments.
This allows for a broad understanding of manufacturing processes
and the development of creative solutions and recommendations.
Each audit team is composed of a faculty
member, a student team leader and two or three engineering students.
The IAC Director or the Assistant Director are in charge of the
site visit and the final analysis and report. The student team leader
is responsible for organizing the site visit, collecting data, and
preparations of the final report, under the direct supervision of
the IAC Director or Assistant Director. At least two students assist
in conducting each site visit, performing the energy analysis, developing
the assessment recommendations, and preparing the reports.
Both students and faculty benefit from the industrial
experience that the UF IAC operation provides. This results in more
relevant engineering material being taught in classes and students
receiving hands on experience in energy use and manufacturing technologies.
