The College
of Engineering at the University of Florida is a comprehensive educational,
research, and service component of the university. The College of
Engineering has a strong and well recognized undergraduate and graduate
instructional and research programs in twelve degree granting departments.
These include:Agricultural, Civil, Coastal and Oceanographic, Computer
and Information Sciences, Electrical. Engineering Sciences, Environmental,Industrial
and Systems, Materials, Mechanical, and Nuclear Engineering.
The College
of Engineering student body is comprised of over 2,600 juniors and
seniors and over 1,000 graduate students served by about 250 faculty
members. The college is also the base of FEEDS, the Florida Engineering
Education Delivery System, which provides graduate engineering instruction
for Florida's industries. With annual research expenditures of over
27 million dollars in 1987-88, the college has an extensive engineering
research program which ranks in the top 6% of some 250 engineering
schools in the nation.
The College
of Engineering at the University of Florida is an integral part
of the institutional structure and has thirteen, four-year ABET
accredited undergraduate programs. During its 1989 accreditation
review and visitation, all thirteen undergraduate programs received
the highest ratings of a six year period until the next visit.
The University
of Florida College of Engineering, and the ISE and ChE Departments
in particular, have long histories of formal involvement with local
and regional manufacturing industries.
