Master’s and Engineer degree information
Master’s degree programs
Most students seeking Master’s degrees from our department will wish to consult our MS/ME program description and requirements for students attending the
University of Florida as on-campus students.
However, we offer other options for students wishing to pursue Master’s degrees from the ISE department. The Outreach Engineering Management (OEM) program is tailored for
full-time professionals who wish to obtain Master’s degree without interrupting their careers. We are also proud to offer a Industrial and Systems Engineering
MS degree via the UF Electronic Delivery of Graduate Education (EDGE) program.
Finally, students studying at the Research and Engineering Education Facility (REEF) in Shalimar, FL have access to additional Master’s degree options.
Finally, current UF ISE undergraduates interested in pursuing an MS degree may be eligible to complete an MS in ISE or MS in Management degree in their fifth year. These are referred to as
Combined Degree programs.
Master of Science (M.S.) degree
Admission to the Master of Science program is open to students with an undergraduate degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, quantitative management, or similar field. The M.S. degree does not require a thesis, although a student interested in pursuing research or possibly continuing their education beyond a master's degree is encouraged to write one.
Master of Engineering (M.E.) degree
Students seeking admission to the Master of Engineering program must have a bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited curriculum or have taken sufficient atriculation course work to meet the minimum requirements specified by ABET. The M.E. degree does not require a thesis and is generally considered a terminal degree.
Engineer degree
The Engineer degree is a 30 credit-hour degree beyond a Master’s degree in Engineering. Click here for more information about this degree.
