Defense-Oriented Operations Research Laboratory
The Defense-Oriented Operations Research (DOOR) Laboratory facilitates the research in the broad area of Operations Research-based techniques in military and related applications. The DOOR lab is based at the University of Florida Research and Engineering Education Facility (UF-REEF) in Shalimar, FL, which is located in close proximity to Eglin Air Force Base (FL). The primary mission of DOOR is to conduct basic research in areas of interest to the U.S. Air Force and other defense agencies.
The DOOR Lab affiliates faculty members and researchers from the University of Florida, AFRL, and other research institutions and universities nationwide. It is directed by Dr. Vladimir L. Boginski of UF-REEF and the Industrial and Systems Engineering department. Current and past research projects by DOOR director and affiliated faculty have been funded by the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Energy.
The DOOR Lab also promotes collaboration with researchers at UF and other universities through hosting visitors and graduate students.
Current research areas include:
- Robust network design with guaranteed attack tolerance
- Clustering problems on networks
- Robust network flow assignments
- Sensor scheduling (multi-sensor, multi-site surveillance)
- Phase transition problems in large-scale complex networks
- Predictive modeling data mining techniques
