Defense Oriented Operations Research (DOOR) Laboratory
Defense Oriented Operations Research (DOOR) Laboratory facilitates the research in the broad area of Operations Research based techniques in military and related applications. The DOOR lab is based at the University of Florida Research and Engineering Education Facility (UF-REEF) in Shalimar, FL, which is located in close proximity to Eglin Air Force Base (FL). The primary mission of DOOR is to conduct basic research in areas of interest to the U.S. Air Force, and in particular, the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL).
DOOR lab affiliates faculty members and researchers from the University of Florida, AFRL, and other research institutions and universities nationwide. It is directed by Dr. Vladimir L. Boginski of UF-REEF. The current research projects by DOOR director and affiliated faculty are funded by the U.S. Department of Defense.
DOOR lab is also promoting collaboration with researchers at UF and other universities through hosting visitors and graduate students.
The main research areas include:
- Clustering problems on networks
- Identifying critical network components (Network Interdiction/Protection)
- Robust network design (connectivity) and network flow patterns
- Sensor scheduling (multi-sensor, multi-site surveillance)
- Phase transition problems in large-scale complex networks
- Predictive modeling data mining techniques in military missions
