* DRESS: Please note that, although this may be sunny Florida,
it does get cold here, even in February. Please be sure to check
the weather before packing for your trip. Last year, in Auburn, it
was freezing and most of wished we had checked the weather beforehand.
Icebreaker (top)
Attendees from various schools get a chance to meet
one another in a fun and interactive way. Conference participants will
eat a light meal accompanied by opening comments from the University of
Florida chapter.
Technical Paper Competition
(top)
Competition participants will present their papers
to a panel of distinguished judges in the field of Industrial
Engineering. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top presentations and
the overall winner will receive an invitation to present at the National
IIE Conference later in the year.
Lunches and Dinners
(top)
Throughout the conference we will host several
lunches and dinners where conference participants can sit down for a
social meal. We are planning
on having a speaker at every hosted meal.
Photo Scavenger Hunt
(top)
Conference attendants become acclimated with the
University of Florida campus and learn about the universitys history
via an activity around campus (really, it's a good excuse to get
outside).
Workshops
(top)
Brief interactive discussions sponsored by
companies providing representatives. Corporate representatives will
present on their choice of a wide variety of topics related to the field
of industrial and systems engineering. Topics TBD.
Gallery Social
(top)
This is an opportunity for students, faculty, and
corporate representatives to network in a relaxed setting in the Reitz
Union Gallery.
Job Fair
(top)
The job fair will be a career fair only for
industrial and systems engineers. This event will allow the students
attending the conference to speak in an informal setting to the
corporate sponsors and learn more about companies in which they are
interested.
Dinner
and Awards Banquet (top)
Highlighted by our keynote speaker, this
professional-attire banquet is a way for the University of Florida
chapter of IIE to wrap up the conference with a formal dinner and
presentation of various awards given throughout the conference.
Social Time (top)
This is the fun part of the conference. We
will find a good place to hit up each night and invite all conference
participants to join in. This could include bars, clubs, and UF-sponsored
events. The activities will be announced at the conference.
Delegates Meeting (top)
IIE National requires that at every regional
conference there is a delegates meeting where every school convenes to
decide where to host the next conference and discuss the activities of
the past year. Only one delegate from each school needs to attend.
This will overlap with the technical paper competition, so if one of the
delegates is also presenting, we will schedule that delegate for an
early presentation time.
